January 2014, history was made in Downtown’s Brooklyn neighborhood. This month marked the groundbreaking of a new beginning for the city’s historic Brooklyn neighborhood, setting the wheels in motion for a catalytic Downtown retail undertaking – Brooklyn Station on Riverside.

Coupled with the nearby housing projects under construction – 220 Riverside and The Brooklyn Riverside – Brooklyn Station on Riverside is on the cusp of becoming a vibrant, dynamic gathering space for Jacksonville’s urban neighborhoods, featuring an anchor specialty grocer along with popular shopping and eating establishments.

“It’s not your cookie-cutter shopping center,” said Patrick McKinley, senior leasing agent for Regency Centers, the developer of the Brooklyn Station on Riverside.

Yesterday, DVI attended a special media tour for the retail community’s anchor store, The Fresh Market. This gourmet grocery will celebrate its grand opening 8 a.m. this Wednesday, Sept. 24. Click on the photos below to get a sneak peek at the store’s interior.

But The Fresh Market, of course, is not the only exciting tenant soon to call Brooklyn Station on Riverside home. Below, we’ve compiled the estimated opening dates for remaining announced tenants:

  • Burger Fi – March/April 2015
    Handcrafted burger shop.
  • Burrito Gallery – July 2015
Downtown staple opening its second location, featuring rooftop dining area.
  • Corner Bakery Café – December 2014
Bakery-style fair including sandwiches and fresh baked good. Jacksonville’s first location.
  • Hair Cuttery – December 2014
    A national discount hair salon.
  • Lucy’s Gift Boutique – October/November 2014
A family-owned company specializing in unique, fashionable merchandise.
  • Navy Federal Credit Union – First quarter 2015
A branch of this financial institution, which serves military and their families.
  • Zoes Kitchen – July 2015
With plans to close its Five Points location, this new location will feature traditional Zoes meal options.

For more information on Brooklyn Station on Riverside, ‘like’ the shopping center on Facebook and follow it on Instagram. DVI is thrilled that a shopping center of this caliber was made possible for Downtown and its Brooklyn neighborhood. We’re excited to witness the positive impact it will have on connecting residents to Jacksonville’s urban neighborhoods – and to the core of Downtown.
