A not-your-average bookmobile rolls into Downtown Monday, Nov 24.
This 74-foot maxed-out 18-wheeler Digital Bookmobile – available for tours 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. outside the Main Library – will allow readers of all ages to learn about and engage with the Jacksonville Public Library’s digital collections. The traveling exhibit’s multiple sections showcase eBooks, audiobooks and a gadget gallery, including the latest smart phones, tablets and e-readers.
When you’re finished taking a tour, you can chat with an e-library specialist, specifically trained to help you with your mobile devices and other tech needs. If you’re wondering how to download an e-book from the library or want to know when the next free computer class is being offered, they can help with that, too. Or, schedule an appointment for later when it’s more convenient for you. Library staff will also be available to sign you up for a library card if you don’t have one.
And before you leave, be sure to grab coffee or lunch at a local food truck in Hemming Park thanks to the Friends of Hemming Park. You can also visit with Nemours BrightStart! experts, who will have information about reading readiness, early literacy screening opportunities, and their recently launched website for parents of children age 5 and younger.
This special Monday event comes on the heels of the Jacksonville Public Library’s launch of its new electronic service, Hoopla Digital. With Hoopla, library customers can borrow free digital movies, TV shows, audiobooks and music with their library cards, anytime and anywhere, with no holds and no late fees. For a guide on how to use Hoopla, visit the library’s website and click on E-Books and More.
