Organizations Working to Revitalize Downtown
Downtown Vision, Inc. is not the only organization in Jacksonville working to revitalize the urban core. From governmental bodies to business associations to professional organizations and more, our Downtown is lucky to have such strong partnerships working together to achieve greater vibrancy of our urban core.
Build Up Downtown
Build Up Downtown serves as a privately funded, nonprofit resource and supporter of the Downtown Investment Authority (DIA) and Downtown Vision, Inc. to reinforce Downtown as the City’s unique epicenter for business, history, culture, education and entertainment. Website: buildupdowntown.org
Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville
The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville champions the appreciation, relevance and expression of art and culture. It leads individuals and families, artists and organizations, businesses and government to unique collaborations that establish art and culture as a key driver of Jacksonville’s economy, growth and quality of life. Three primary initiatives: The Spark District, Advocacy Action Center and Art in Public Places. Website: culturalcouncil.org
Downtown Investment Authority (DIA)
Approved by City Council fall 2012, this governmental body was created to revitalize Jacksonville’s urban core by using resources of the Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) to spur economic development. Website: investdtjax.com
Downtown Rotaract Jax
A young professionals’ group sponsored by the Rotary Club of Jacksonville, this club participates in service projects ranging from clean-ups to walks and runs to fundraiser socials and more. Friends of James Weldon Johnson Park
Friends of James Weldon Johnson Park is a nonprofit organization founded in 2014 and contracted with the City of Jacksonville to revitalize the city’s first and most historic public park. James Weldon Johnson Park is located in the heart of Downtown Jacksonville, adjacent to City Hall, the main branch of the Jacksonville Public Library, and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Jacksonville Bar Association
Organized in February 1897 with 33 members, the Jacksonville Bar Association’s mission is to encourage collegiality and serve our members in the practice of law, aid in the administration of justice, and foster respect for the law and the legal profession. The Jacksonville Bar Association serves as the forum for our profession – willing to take action and try innovative ways to better serve our membership and the public. Association membership is open to all Lawyers, inspiring members to participate regularly in Bar activities. Activities are designed to promote the highest levels of professionalism and ethics, unselfish service to the community, positive relations between the bench and the bar, and camaraderie among the members so that we all live up to the highest ideals of the profession at work and in the community. The Jacksonville Historical Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, dedicated to preserving the history of Northeast Florida and educating citizens about culture, architecture and history of the area. NAIOP is the international trade association of developers, owners and professionals of commercial, industrial and mixed-use real estate. Members promote responsible, sustainable development that creates jobs. NAIOP supports diversity within the industry, provides education, and advocates for legislation that benefits the communities where we work and live. The Rotary Club of Jacksonville
Rotary is an organization of service clubs known as Rotary Clubs located all over the world. The stated purpose of the organization is to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Transform Jax
