Placemaking Assistant and Research Fellow

Chelbi Robinson

Chelbi Robinson is the Placemaking Assistant & Research Fellow at Downtown Vision Inc. in the PlacemakingJax department. Her role specializes in the measurement and documentation of the social and economic impact of placemaking efforts Downtown.

Born and raised in Jacksonville, her upbringing in the Northside and leisure Downtown as a child informed her appreciation for community development, the accessible activation of public space, and for this city and its residents as a whole.

She graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts, where she wrote her thesis on Community Revitalization and Placemaking, with a focus on Infrastructure and Urban Planning within the neighborhoods she inhabited.

After graduating from PlacemakingJax’s no-cost Placemaking School, she pursued the opportunity to add to the program’s model of supporting community in our city center and directly funding and uplifting small business within a growing Jacksonville– joining Downtown Vision’s PlacemakingJax team.

Through her work, she seeks to promote small business opportunity, talent retention, social connectedness, and a prioritization of Jacksonville residents– particularly communities lacking access to social and economic opportunity within their own neighborhoods– with the city center acting as an inclusive hub for all to live, work, play, and connect in.
