The Petite
A pop-up art gallery that activated unexpected vacant storefronts, The Petite was curated by Arlington-based creative Kandice Clark to showcase Jacksonville’s diverse visual arts scene and create new space for local artists to connect.
The Petite 2026: In 2026, the project grew into a permanent storefront at 112 E. Adams Street through a partnership with Hardwick’s Bar. Since then, Clark has hosted several fine art exhibitions and built a strong lineup of community-centered programming. Learn more at @thepetitejax.
The Petite 2025:
The Petite’s 2025 project transformed the vacant Volunteers in Medicine building at 41 East Duval Street into an immersive art gallery, reimagined by more than nine local artists. Step inside and explore each room to experience a vibrant world of color, creativity, and style showcasing immense local talent.
The Petite 2024:
The project received a second round of funding in 2024 following its initial success. As part of the award, the project team was encouraged to learn how to match the funds by participating in a grant writing, crowdfunding, or sponsorship course with us. Their efforts culminated in Duvalton: The Artists Ball—a one-night, themed celebration of the arts held at Brooklyn’s Friday Musicale in February 2025.
The Petite Project 2023:
The Petite 2023 was a full-block activation from Sweet Pete’s Candy to the Federal Reserve Building, curated by Kandice Knecole Clark. It was a three-part summer series, including a pop-up gallery and sweet treat experience, launching out of the newly designed privately owned public space (POPs), located at 424 N Hogan.
