House Picnic is a free, public gathering with music, movement, and a shared space to create belonging, visibility, and cultural exchange in Downtown Jacksonville. House Picnic invites attendees to bring picnic blankets and baskets and enjoy a full day of house music, curated vendors, community-centered activities and health resources. A temporary dance floor will anchor the space, encouraging connection through music and movement, while thoughtfully selected vendors enhance the picnic experience.
House music survived because it was supported by the community, nurtured in safe spaces, and allowed to grow. Today, House Picnic applies this same principle to Jacksonville: when communities are supported, culture thrives. House music is not just a genre, it is a community. From the sound that once filled Ashley Street during the LaVilla heyday to private gatherings and underground celebrations, House Picnic uses this legacy to create a space where people can gather freely, celebrate openly, and experience the city as a place that belongs to them.
