Born out of resistance to the Florida Department of Transportation turning off the Pride lights in 2021, we are celebrating the 5 year anniversary of the Acosta Bridge Pride March this year! 🎉
🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️Kick off Pride with us on June 1st to march in solidarity and protest against continued LGBTQIA+ hate legislation and identity erasure in the State of Florida and across our country, honor the lives taken at the Pulse Nightclub shooting, as well as those who we have lost in our community this year, hear words of encouragement and hope from community members and leaders, and showcase the love and support we have for our LGBTQIA+ community in Jax. ❤️
The Plan:
🅿️ We will be meeting at 7:00 PM in the San Marco Skyway parking lot, which is located right next to the Southbank entrance of the Acosta Bridge.
It will be cooler at this time of day, and we will have daylight marching over the bridge, and you are encouraged to bring colorful lights or glow sticks for the walk back, as it will be getting darker.🔦
✅ We expect everything to end around 8:30 PM.
ℹ️ When we wrap up, please stick around to participate in lighting up the Main Street Bridge as a final statement on the first night or Pride.
