Artist Reception Featuring Works By: Joey Matula, Selena Kraft & Mary Joan Hinson
Join us for an exclusive art reception showcasing the work of three talented artists—Joey Matula, Selena Kraft, and Mary Joan Hinson—hosted by Fogle Art Consulting at the innovative Dennis + Ives Creative Office.
This dynamic event celebrates the diverse artistic voices of Matula, Kraft, and Hinson, each offering a unique perspective through their captivating works. Guests will have the opportunity to engage with the artists, view a curated selection of their pieces, and explore the creative fusion of art and design within the vibrant Dennis + Ives space.
Joey Matula, originally from rural upstate New York and now based in Jacksonville, Florida, began his career in culinary arts before shifting gears and following a family tradition by serving in the U.S. Navy during Desert Storm/Desert Shield, where he earned the title of “Junior Sailor of the Quarter.” In 2005, he founded Commercial Design Interiors, an interior design company that marketed high-end Italian furniture, French flooring, Canadian glass, and American acoustics. His successful business, which served clients in New York, Ontario, and Quebec, provided a perfect outlet for his passion for color and design, fueling his creative journey.
Selena Kraft’s fascination with nature’s imagery has always inspired her work. Growing up near a shipyard, she was captivated by the bright colors and the natural decay of metals and wood, which became central themes in her art. As a child, she would gather inspiration during long walks by the water, collecting fragments from the beach to create assemblages—a practice she continues worldwide. Selena’s keen eye for diversity in her surroundings enriches her art, infusing her pieces with a dynamic range of influences.
Mary Joan Hinson’s passion for oil painting began at a young age, and she honed her craft through extensive studies in the U.S., Europe, and the Far East. After years as a Professor of Fine Arts and Humanities at FSCJ, she earned her PhD in 2005 and dedicated herself to teaching and exhibiting her work throughout the eastern United States. In 2020, she shifted focus exclusively to her art, quickly earning recognition with awards like the Botticelli Award and the 2022 Best Public Art award.
Don’t miss this chance to experience thought-provoking local art, meet the creators behind the works, and enjoy an evening of inspiration and conversation.
