Duval To The World: The Flavorful Legacy Of Black Chefs

About

Duval to the World: The Flavorful Legacy of Black Chefs is a living act of remembrance, a celebration of the men and women whose culinary genius built the flavor of Jacksonville, shaped the soul of the South, and fed a city that did not always speak their names.
This is not a history lesson. It is a homecoming.

On Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 5:30 to 9:30 PM, downtown Jacksonville will be transformed into a living celebration of Black culinary culture. The evening unfolds as a multi sensory journey through time and taste:

*Opening Art Show & Plant Stencil Workshop — Guests create original artwork using plants and paint as stencils, celebrating the intersection of nature and creative expression.
*Florida Native Yaupon Holly Tea Tasting — A curated experience honoring Florida’s only native caffeinated plant and the Indigenous traditions of this land.
*Multi-Course Amuse-Bouche Dining — An elevated culinary journey celebrating the legacy of Black chefs, paired with the sights and sounds of the evening.
*Culinary Art Exhibit & Book Nook — A curated display of vintage cookware, cookbooks, and culinary artifacts honoring the tools and texts of Black culinary tradition.
*Live Historical Reenactment — A live re-imagining of the phases of time that have unfolded on the land where Treaty Oak stands.

Only events occurring within Downtown Jacksonville will be accepted.
