This Thursday, we’re celebrating Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing Day! 🎶 Honoring 126 years of a song that became a beacon of hope, resilience, and freedom. Jacksonville, FL is the birthplace of the Black National Anthem. Let that sink in. ✊🏾

On Feb. 12, 1900, “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” was performed for the first time in the heart of LaVilla. The Johnson Brothers wrote it, 500 students at Old Stanton sang it, and the rest is history.
